Eunice, front row on left, at her 90th birthday celebration surrounded by members of Prayers & Squares
90th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: On Wednesday, 23 of us celebrated the 90th birthday of Eunice who is the eldest & a really treasured member of Prayers & Squares, the Prayer Quilt Ministry in the Parish of Pauatahanui. This ministry gifts prayer quilts to people who are in special need of prayer or who wish to give thanks for a blessing from God. Eunice tatts the crosses for the backs of our quilts, embellishes the stunning banners we raffle as Christmas fundraisers and does both hand & machine sewing.
Until recently, Eunice drove down from Paraparaumu to St Andrew’s Parish Centre in Plimmerton to our weekly gatherings but now takes a leisurely trip on the train. She has also been giving tatting lessons to a couple of members of our team. She is a real inspiration to us all and an example of how connecting with different groups, socialising in the community and giving of your talents & gifts can enrich your life as well as the lives of those around you.
