‘ Staying Safe’ a refresher course for older drivers
We will be running four of these FREE classroom based courses to help re-familiarise you with traffic rules and safe driving practices. The class will also increase your knowledge about other transport options and help you remain independent for longer. We will be running four of these classes between November 2019 and June 2020. Life Without A car
We will be running three Life without a car workshops between November 2019 and June 2020. The course focuses on equipping older people directly with the information they need and options available to stay engaged in their communities and retain their sense of freedom and personal identity once they stop driving themselves. CAMEO (Come And Meet Each Other) Waikanae
Waikanae Cameo Society is a place where peole can meet. It is a relaxing and informal lounge in a shop within Mahara Place, with comfortable couches and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It is a place to meet and make friends, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, wait for a bus or train, or wait for an appointment. It’s also a place where you can talk with a JP, play scrabble or card games, or meet with an interest group. Visitors to CAMEO are welcome and there are no fees to visit, however donations are appreciated. HOURS; Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm. POP IN – YOU WILL LOVE IT!
Paraparaumu Pop-In Centre
We invite older folk and any seniors who seek company and friendship. Just pop in for a chat and a cuppa. Meet and make new friends. Come and go as you please.

Men’s social group – coffee catch up

Healthy Ageing Together (HAT) Group monthly meetings
Age Concern Kapiti’s Healthy Ageing Together (HAT) meets monthly at the Paraparaumu Library meeting room from 10.30am-12noon. Join us for morning tea and to hear our guest speaker each month.
No charge, but koha welcomed.
If you are retired or have time to spare, then Menzshed Kapiti could be for you! The Menzshed is a place to; Get together with like-minded men; practice your skills, learn new ones and share your know-how with others; pursue hobbies, pastimes and interests or get involved in a piece of work; enjoy some company while working on projects that give back to the community; gain a sense of personal worth; belong to a team.
The Menzshed is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm (except public holidays).
It’s located down the long drive, next to 24 Rangihiroa Street, Waikanae Beach.

The University of the Third Age is a learning co-operative which started in France in the 1970s and has since become a worldwide movement. Kapiti Coast U3A was founded in 1993 and now has over 350 members. Kapiti Coast U3A offers; New learning opportunities; a wide variety of daytime courses; opportunities to meet new people; low annual subscription.
